International Commencement Programme

We offer an intensive (one Academic Year) The International Commencement Programme in Health Sciences, the purpose of which is to prepare overseas students for entry to a Medical, Dental, Nursing or Pharmacy degree programme at a European Universities.

If you are interested in studying Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing or Pharmacy but lack the entry requirements or have completed high school exams (or equivalent), this is an alternative route to entry. These programmes will deliver intensive English and subject specific knowledge, to provide a foundation in the subject specific area and a boost toward EU university entry.

In order to facilitate students and meet their needs we have developed three The International Commencement Programme options:

ICP in Health Sciences: This is an alternative route to study Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing or Pharmacy at and progress on to an EU university.

Pre - ICP Studies: This option is for students who have not met the IELTS 5.0 entry requirement for the ICP and need to prepare beforehand in order to do so.

Advanced Entry to University: This is for students who have met the entry requirements for an EU university. Need to assess their university options and be provided with some assistance in the entry application.

Medicine

The International Commencement Programme is designed for a specific purpose to equip you with the tools, knowledge and skills for further progression in the field of medicine. It is the first step on your journey to become a doctor.

The programme gives you the opportunity to get direct entry onto a medical degree programme at a prestigious partner university or institute.

The programme is ideal for candidates who have the desire and potential to flourish in a career in medicine. It strongly emphasises the development of the study skills that will be necessary for success in your undergraduate studies and beyond.

After completion of the foundation programme with us, you will gain the necessary understanding of key concepts within the field of medicine; you will develop person ally and professionally, build your confidence , resilience and – last but not least – you will meet the academic level to study further to become a medical practitioner.

Pharmacy

Teaching and assessments methods are designed to help students transition to higher degree level study and become familiar with the types of learning and assessments typically employed on pharmacy undergraduate degree programmes.

The course content is structured accordingly so that students can gradually begin to specialize in their subject area related to pharmaceutical sciences.

We teach the fundamentals in the first place and add modules selected by students. Pharmacists work in a variety of settings – community pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and within the pharmaceutical industry, to name just a few.

Whether continuing in further education or entering the job market, our students will call upon the skills they have gained from English Talks for years.

Dentistry

This programme covers all the aspects students need to start their journey towards becoming medical (dental) practitioners. Regardless of their chosen career, the skills and aptitudes learnt will be valuable assets.

Students will be closely guided and supported throughout the programme by our dedicated staff and advisers to ensure their learning experience at English Talks is rewarding. Different pathways are tailored to meet students’ academic needs required in pursuing their career path in dentistry.

On average, students have approx. 22-28 hours of lessons per week, and are expected to supplement this with 10-15 hours of private study. Additional classes such as writing, advanced vocabulary and grammar workshops will be provided. We aim to make the transition from school to University as smooth as possible so our students feel prepared for the challenges ahead.

Nursing

The knowledge and skills gained in this program will prepare you for a degree programme in nursing. The programme is delivered over 30 weeks.

It aims to provide you with understanding of the basic concepts of the nursing healthcare profession. It also develops your skills and knowledge to prepare you for successful progression onto a degree programme.

You will explore important aspects of values, ethics, research, physiology and social policy related to professional nursing. It gives a solid theoretical and practical base to the understanding and development of nursing care – a core grounding in clinical practice and education in nursing. It is a pathway for future nurses to evolve and fulfil their potential.
