With International Commencement Programme
The ICP programme in Computing & IT is a specialised course designed to support international students to progress to studying: Computer Science, Information Science, Data Analytics, Digital Humanities and IT. If you are interested in studying Computing & IT degree but lack the entry requirements or have completed high school exams (or equivalent), this is an alternative route to entry.
Programme Purpose
We offer an intensive (one Academic Year) International Commencement Programme in Computing & IT, the purpose of which is to prepare overseas students for entry to a Computing or IT degree programme at an Irish, UK or European University.
Who is the Course for?
- Have completed their local high school qualification (equivalent to Irish Leaving Certificate)
- Have completed high school qualification or equivalent, but do not meet the entry requirements for university admission.
- Need to improve their English language before studying at a European University.
Programme Content
Students studying the ICP Business & Finance programme will cover four main academic subjects:
- Foundation Mathematics
- Further Mathematics
- English Language Skills
- English for Academic Purposes
- Learning & Study Skills
- Cultural Studies
- IT & Communication Skills
- Chemistry (Engineering)
- Physics (Engineering)
Students will also gain essential skills, such as:
- Study & Communication skills
- Problem solving
- Presentation skills
- Interview skills
- Critical thinking
- Time management
- Academic writing
Programmes
In order to facilitate students and meet their needs we have developed three The International Commencement Programme options:
- ICP in Computing & IT: This is an alternative route to study Computer Science, Information Science, Data Analytics, Digital Humanities and IT and progress on to an EU university
- Pre-ICP Studies: This option is for students who have not met the IELTS 4.5 entry requirement for the ICP and need to prepare beforehand in order to do so.
- Advanced Entry to University: This is for students who have met the entry requirements for an EU university. Need to assess their university options and be provided with some assistance in the entry application.

Yes, O levels or equivalent are sufficient for ICP entry along with an IELTS score of 4.5 (5.0 Health Sciences ICP)
