With International Commencement Programme
The ICP programme in Engineering & Technology is a specialised course designed to support international students to progress to studying: Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computing or Software Engineering.
Programme Purpose
We offer an intensive (one Academic Year) course: The International Commencement Programme in Engineering & Technology, the purpose of which is to prepare overseas students for entry to a engineering degree programme at a European Universities.
Who is the Course for?
- Have completed their local high school qualification (equivalent to Irish Leaving Certificate)
- Have completed high school qualification or equivalent, but do not meet the entry requirements for university admission.
- Need to improve their English language before studying at a European University.
Programme Content
Students studying the ICP Engineering & Technology programme will cover four main academic subjects:
- Foundation Mathematics
- Further Mathematics
- English Language Skills
- English for Academic Purposes
- Learning & Study Skills
- Cultural Studies
- IT & Communication Skills
- Chemistry (Engineering)
- Physics (Engineering)
- Economics (Business)
Students will also gain essential skills, such as:
- Study & Communication skills
- Problem solving
- Presentation skills
- Interview skills
- Critical thinking
- Time management
- Academic writing
In order to facilitate students and meet their needs we have developed three The International Commencement Programme options:
- ICP in Engineering & Technology: This is an alternative route to study Engineering & Technology and progress on to an EU university.
- Pre-ICP Studies: This option is for students who have not met the IELTS 4.5 entry requirement for the ICP and need to prepare beforehand in order to do so.
- Advanced Entry to University: This is for students who have met the entry requirements for an EU university. Need to assess their university options and be provided with some assistance in the entry application

Yes, O levels or equivalent are sufficient for ICP entry along with an IELTS score of 4.5 (5.0 Health Sciences ICP)
