With International Foundation Diploma

The IFY programme in Business & Finance is a specialised course designed to support international students to progress to studying: Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or Business Management at university.

If you are interested in studying a Business or Finance related degree but lack the entry requirements or have completed high school exams (or equivalent), this is an alternative route to entry.

Programme Purpose

We offer an intensive (one Academic Year) International Foundation Diploma in Business & Finance, the purpose of which is to prepare overseas students for entry to a Business or Finance degree programme at an Irish, UK or European University.

Who is the Course for?

  • Have completed their local high school qualification (equivalent to Irish Leaving Certificate)
  • Have completed high school qualification or equivalent, but do not meet the entry requirements for university admission.
  • Need to improve their English language before studying at a European University.

Programme Content

Students studying the IFY Business & Finance programme will cover four main academic subjects: 

  • Foundation Mathematics
  • Further Mathematics
  • English Language Skills
  • English for Academic Purposes
  • Learning & Study Skills
  • Cultural Studies
  • IT & Communication Skills
  • Chemistry (Engineering)
  • Physics (Engineering)

Students will also gain essential skills, such as:

  • Academic writing

Programmes

In order to facilitate students and meet their needs we have developed three The International Foundation Diploma Programme options:

  • ICP in Business & Finance: This is an alternative route to study Business Administration, Economics. Accounting or Business Management and progress on to an EU university.
  • Pre-ICP Studies: This option is for students who have not met the IELTS 4.5 entry requirement for the ICP and need to prepare beforehand in order to do so.
  • Advanced Entry to University: This is for students who have met the entry requirements for an EU university. Need to assess their university options and be provided with some assistance in the entry application.
